The suggested filter is using a filter element with segment back-flushing system. During back-flushing, the back flush nozzle effectively cleans the filter element in one complete turn and brings it to its virgin clean state. This cleaning principle, developed by the manufacturer about 50 years ago, proved to be successful and reliable. The practice shows that the average service life of the filter taking in account regular replacement of inexpensive wearing components is 20-30 years. Thousands of filters of this design have been distributed all over the world and up to now they work continuously 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The largest volume of sales is in Europe, which confirms the high quality of the product. Filters of this design are suitable for filtration of water, low-viscosity fuels (diesel, gasoline, kerosene), turbine oils, low-viscosity lubricating oils in lubricating circuits, as well as for filtration of coolants.
Different back-flushing filters, their distinguishing characteristics, advantages and disadvantages
Back-flushing filters are used for mechanical cleaning of low-viscosity liquids. In this case - filtration of circulating / cooling / technical / river / well / sealing water in the factories to protect pipelines, tanks, heat exchangers, injection nozzles from clogging with dirt, as well as - filtration of coolants (lubricating coolants).
Back-flushing filters are available in different designs
The principle of operation of any automatic self-cleaning filter is based on the fact that the filter element is periodically automatically cleaned and as a result after each cleaning it must be cleaned to its original absolutely clean state.
Filter design: horizontal or vertical does not affect the quality of back-flushing.
Disc filters: (with a filter element consisting of a number of plastic discs) are intended for filtration of slightly polluted water, e.g. tap water in residential buildings and are not effective for industrial water filtration. They are not designed for filtering coolants. Their service life is short in comparison with metal filters.
Bernoulli filters perform well in filtration tasks of slightly polluted sea water, but are not intended for coolants filtration.
The advantage of filters with numerous filter elements in the form of thin mesh- or slotted tubes is their compact design. They work reliably in closed circuits (with no external input of contamination), such as filtration of fuels or lubricating oil on big motors. In open systems with a lot of dirt, the reliability and trouble-free operation of such filters drops dramatically. In other words, the ability of these filter candles to get returned to their clean state after back-flushing tremendously drops, the filter elements get clogged and the filter has to be disassembled and cleaned manually. It is needles to say, that these filters with many filter elements (like any other mechanism with many components), are expensive in operation. Their reliability for coolant filtration is questionable. The cost of the scheduled replacement of all filter elements is many times higher than the cost of replacing a single mesh cylinder on our filter.
The advantage of filter elements in the form of slotted tubes is their increased wear resistance. The disadvantage is that the open area of the filtration surface is 4-5 times less than that of the mesh filter element, which leads to a proportional increase in size of the filter and correspondingly price increase.
Nozzle or nozzle with brushes sucks dirt from the surface of the filter element due to pressure differential. If the nozzle has the shape of a cylindrical nozzle, it passes through the entire inner surface of the filter element in a spiral, gradually cleaning the filter element. There is a popular, but not well- grounded belief that that brushes contribute to cleaning when the pressure drop is not sufficient for effective cleaning.
